Iwo killing: Akinbade calls for calm
…condemns the ugly incident*
The Osun State Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, has called for peace over the killing of a youth by a Police officer in Iwo area of the state.
While condemning the action in a statement issued by his Media Office, Akinbade deplored the manner lives were being lost through the overzealousness of some law enforcement agents across the country.
“This harassments and killings have to stop. Our law enforcement agents should be more civil in handling charged situations. The authorities should please embark on reorientation for our law enforcement agents in this direction.
However, the ADC gubernatorial candidate while commiserating with the family of the deceased, implored the aggrieved youths in the area to remain calm.
“To this end, we call on the authority concerned, to get to the root of the ugly incident with a view to bringing those behind it to book. We can’t continue with this recklessness ” Akinbade maintained
Meanwhile, he commended the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi for his promptness at ensuring the situation did not escalate, noting that the traditional ruler’s sincerity of purpose has helped Iwo land which comprise Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Governments, in maintaining relative peace.
