Gov poll: Taraba State imposes curfew on Jalingo

Following the growing tension that characterised the delay in the collation and declaration of last Saturday’s governorship election result in the Taraba State, Governor Darius Ishaku on Monday imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Jalingo, the state capital.

This was contained in a press statement issued in Jalingo and signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alh. Hassan Mijinyawa

According to the statement, the curfew would run from 6pm to 6am beginning from Monday, March 11, 2019, till further notice.

The curfew, according to the statement, however, exempts some INEC officials, key agents of political parties and observers involved in the collation of elections results.

Ishaku in the statement enjoined the people of the State to continue to be law abiding even as he urged security agencies to ensure strict compliance with the curfew.

As of the time of filing this report, results from eight Local Government Areas have been collated with the Peoples Democratic Party winning in seven of the eight local government areas so far declared.

The PDP won in Takum, Yorro, Zing, Ardo-Kola, Lau, Gashaka and Ussa, while the APC won in Gassol Local Government.
