Nutritionist advises Nigerians on healthy eating during Yuletide

Mr Solomon Mbam, a Clinical Nutritionist, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to maintain healthy eating during the Yuletide.

Mbam told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the season, which is a time to merry and dine with family and friends, could increase the chances of gaining excess cholesterol.

He said that individuals should have guidelines that would help them to feast properly all through the season.

“We are in the festive season and it’s always a time to merry and enjoy with our family and friends, which comes with a lot to eat.

“People should try as much as possible to limit the intake of fried food and sugary drinks which will be in abundance due to the season.

“Opting for fruit drinks and grilled meat or fish will help to curb excess cholesterol which can be harmful to the body, ” he said.

Mbam said that exercise was also a means individuals could adopt to stay fit, saying it would help to start the new year in good health.

“Exercising in this period is very essential as we will be approaching a new year, nobody wants to enter the new year with any health issues.

“Even if it’s just walking, it will go a long way to keep the body in shape,” he said. (NAN)
