Buhari inducts 109 power and MI-171E combat helicopters to fight insurgency

 

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, February 6 inducted two fighter helicopters in the fleet of the Nigerian Air Force.

The helicopters are a 109 power and 171E combat, and they were procured to be deployed to the northeast and assist other military operations across the country.

The event which took place at the Eagles Square, Abuja was witnessed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Speaking at the event,  Buhari commended the NAF and other armed forces for their roles in combating insurgency in the northeast.

“You’ll all agree with me that the successes we have achieved so far has restored our pride,” the president said.

He thanked Nigerians for supporting his administration despite the security challenges facing the country.

He also thanked the security agencies for their efforts in tackling the issues of kidnapping and banditary in the country.

”The acquision of these aircraft is a demonstration of our commitment in tackling the security challenges facing our country,” the president stated.

The president further promised that his administration will sustain bilateral relations to be able to acquire more platforms from friendly foreign governments to enhance the capabilities of the NAF.
