Let’s maintain peace in Ibadan –Wale Oke
The National Deputy President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has enjoined indigenes of Ibadan not to allow anything or anybody to disrupt the prevailing peace being enjoyed in the ancient city
Wale Oke, an indigene of Kasumu village in Ibadan, made the appeal on Wednesday when the Central Council of Ibadan indigenes(CCII), led by its Governor- General, Chief Yemi Soladoye, paid him a courtesy visit at his office at Olaogun, Ibadan.
Wake Oke who is also the Presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, was honoured by the Council with an award to commemorate the 30th Ibadan Cultural Festival.
The renowned Cleric asserted that but for God, well-meaning individuals and associations, the town would have been enmeshed in a serious crisis as a result of the coronation of 21 other obas in the city.
“At a point in time, the devil took over and wanted to plunge Ibadan into serious crisis but the prayers and concrete efforts of well meaning individuals and associations, saved us of the trouble”he said.
Wale Oke who pointed out that in the company of Prelate Sunday Ola Makinde,he met with the former governor of the state, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu and some stakeholders, in a bid at resolving the logjam.
He commended the CCII for their steadfast at pursing peace,imploring the body to always pursue the path of peace, stressing, “Ibadan is the hub and if its peace is jeopardized, the spiral effect can be dire”
The Bishop then prayed for the continuous peaceful existence in the city and the state at large, urging the people to continue to rally round the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde
Earlier, the CCII Governor- General who was accompanied on the visit by other executive members, said the award bestowed on Oke was to appreciate him for his contributions to the development of Ibadan and the world at large.
According to Chief Soladoye, the Council would always work towards the upliftment of Ibadan, its people and Oyo State in general.
