Kano Commissioner sacked for celebrating Kyari’s death, tests positive for COVID-19

A former Works and Infrastructural Development Commissioner in Kano state, Engr. Muazu Magaji, who was sacked for allegedly celebrating the death of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The former commissioner made his COVID-19 status public in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday.

“This morning my NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) test came out, I have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. And have been moved to one of the state’s facilities”.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had on April 18, 2020, sacked Magaji with immediate effect after he was accused to have made unguarded utterances over the death of Abba Kyari.

But Magaji had denied the claim, saying in a statement then, “I want to sincerely clear up what a lot of people may have misunderstood and set the record straight. As a Muslim and a patriotic Nigerians, I was only misunderstood by people to think that I celebrated Kyari’s death, the truth is I did not.”
