COVID-19: Oyedepo describes opening of churches in Nigeria, US as welcome development
The General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has reacted to the re-opening of some churches and mosques globally, describing it as a welcome development.
Oyedepo, in a programme on Saturday maintained that the remaining states have no choice but to follow the footsteps of others.
Adamawa, Gombe, Niger States, among others have lifted the ban on religious gatherings and reopened churches and mosques.
“21 states are open to worship, the other ones have no choice. They should just know that they have no choice,” Oyedepo said.
Making reference to the US President, Donald Trump’s declaration that churches and worship centers be opened, Oyedepo said it was another way God is humiliating coronavirus pandemic.
Trump had ordered governors to reopen worship centers, adding that America needs prayers.
He predicted that very soon, every part of the world would totally be free from coronavirus.
“Trump declared places of worship open across the US. That is how God has been humiliating this noisome pestilence.
“Watch out, very shortly, every part of the world will be totally free. The fear of this noisome pestilence will go into oblivion. Judgment has come down on coronavirus, its threat is over.
He further declared that, “every victim of the virus is declared free and Nigeria is free from the fear and torment of coronavirus.”
