MultiChoice Nigeria announces Betway as lead sponsor of Big Brother Naija Season 5

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced Betway, Nigeria’s premium provider of sports betting as lead sponsor of the Season 5 of its famous Big Brother Naija reality TV show.

This year’s show has been scheduled to air in July 2020; and its audition has held virtually between the 20th and 30th of May.

Commenting at the event of the unveiling of Betway as this year’s lead sponsor, Mr. John Ugbe, Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, declared the sports betting company as “a right fit for” for the show.

He said, “As an established brand in its competitive industry, Betway is a right fit for BBNaija and we are excited to have them on board this season”, adding, “We believe this partnership will bring about an increase in engagement and excitement for fans of the reality TV show”.

Also commenting on the partnership, the representative of Betway, Mr. Chris Ubosi, stated that Betway was excited to be a part of Big Brother Naija season five adding, “The collaboration with Big Brother Naija presents us with the opportunity to engage and connect with Nigerians through our amazing range of sports betting and online games. We believe our offerings will bring added excitement to both the contestants and the viewers at home”.

It is on record that apart from the unequalled contributions which MultiChoice does make to virtually all Reality TV Shows in the country through its DStv and GOtv, the Company has birthed a number of very successful and highly impactful Reality TV Shows which do enjoy both the embrace and applause of Nigerians.

Notably, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), which is based on the Big Brother television franchise, in which contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize worth 60,000,000 Nigerian Naira, and other material gifts, at the end of the show, is one which has significantly raised the bar in Reality TV Shows in this clime.

Since it debuted with its first season from March 5 to June 4, 2006, the Reality Show has grown into a brand with soaring brand equity; gaining its own tractions and making its own impacts across not only Nigeria, but the entire African Continent and even the whole world at an astonishing rate!

Worthy of note is that despite the initial 11-year gap between the first and the second seasons of the Show, Big Brother Naija has risen in stature, richer in content, and waxed stronger in consistency and innovativeness since 2017. Little wonder that the number and profiles of viewers keeps rising with more and more brands leveraging on it, year on year.

Interestingly, too, Season 4 of the show was staged in Nigeria, with viewers and voters that far outstripped previous episodes. The talkability which the Show generates across all media platforms, both traditional and digital, too, keeps soaring, both in volume and veracity.

On its part, Betway has worked hard to establish itself as a frontrunner in online and mobile sports betting across Africa. Through the use of easy-to-understand technology, the company has introduced brand new ways to bet to multitudes of passionate football fans.
