Magu: Group urges thorough investigation
A non-governmental organisation, Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG), has urged thorough investigation of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu.
The Chairman of CACOBAG, Prince Toyin Raheem, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
Raheem said that such an investigation would send a strong message to other Nigerians to give no room for suspicions.
He urged that the investigation should be extended to other deserving high profile individuals within and outside the commission.
“His assets before he took over the mantle of leadership as EFCC head as well as his present assets should be investigated and made public.
“Beyond that, his activities in the police should also be investigated,” he said.
The CACOBAG chairman said it was embarrassing that “our anti corruption Caesar” could give room for suspicions that called for his investigation.
He advised the Federal Government to continue to fight corruption regardless of who could be involved.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Magu on Monday appeared before a panel over alleged corruption.(NAN)
