PTF says 63% of sanitisers in circulation may be fake
About 63% of alcohol-based sanitisers in circulation may be fake, Presidential Task Force (PTF) has raised the alarm.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the PTF, Mr Boss Mustapha, during its daily briefing, also noted the estimated percentage of hand sanitisers had been found to be without NAFDAC certification.
Mustapha expressed the fear that such products could rather pose danger to Nigerians rather than being of help in the fight against the pandemic.
He said the Minister of Health had consequently issued an advisory to the general public to procure their sanitisers and other pharmaceutical products from credible sources.

The SGF condemned the reported unchecked violation of airport COVID-19 protocols by dignitaries.
“We believe leaders must lead by example. In truth, as leaders and followers, we must change our behavior if we must overcome the pandemic. This virus does not discriminate by status, age, tribe, creed or color. All we require is diligent compliance and vigilance,” he said.
PTF National Coordinator, Dr. Sani Aliyu, warned Nigerians remain at risks of contracting coronavirus and called for strict adherence to protective measures.
While noting that COVID-19 affects people of all ages, he affirmed that two groups of people are at high risk of the disease including people above 60 years and those with underlying conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer or anything that suppresses the immune system.
