COVID-19: OAU distance learning seeks support for eZone centre

The Obafemi Awolowo University Centre for Distance Learning (OAUCDL) has called for the support of relevant stakeholders to its customised Learning Managed System (LMS).
The Spokesperson of OAUCDL, Mr Adeyemi Adedeji, made the call in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Osogbo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that LMS, called eZone, is aimed at bridging the gap of distance learning programmes and promoting academic activities online, amidst COVID-19.
Adedeji said that the initiative would help in keeping logs of academic and non-academic activities for smooth learning processes, especially during the period of COVID-19.
He noted that more professional examinations had been carried out with the eZone centre successfully before the present COVID-19 challenge.
“It is expected that more of the university programmes in OAU will be moved online, especially in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The process of eZone is to be ready for any future challenge that may make gathering in physical classrooms impossible,” he said.
According to him, OAUCDL is making efforts through emerging network technologies to ensure responsive and quality distance learning opportunities that meet global standards.
He said that the centre had put in so much in making the initiative to provide support and back-up for the university ‘s face-to-face programmes even before the outbreak of the pandemic.
Adedeji, however, said that despite the closure of universities in the country to prevent the spread of COVID-19, teaching and learning were ongoing for OAU/JUPEB students. (NAN)
