NGO plans to launch database for 1m job seekers annually
Its Director-General, Mr Fubura Blessing, made this known on Friday at a news conference in Abuja.
Blessing said the initiative was aimed at complementing the Federal Government’s efforts on jobs creation and poverty reduction.
He said that provision of job started from proper statistics of job seekers.
According to him, the Nigerian Youth Database project is to create a database where all those seeking for jobs will be asked to put in their profile.
He said that the NGO, in collaboration with Rochas Cares, would partner with the Federal Government and private organisations to collate data and provide jobs.
Blessing said: “Creation of jobs is one of the six critical call areas of our organisation, as we have others.
“But, this database project is fundamental to us, because we have a mandate of doing one million jobs in the next one year.
“This is a support to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives of creating 100 million jobs for Nigerians.
“Our idea is to create these one million jobs based on areas of professional, skilled labourers, art and the production industry.
“And of course, we are also going to set up a desk for entrepreneur development recommendations and references.
“The idea here is for everybody that we will capture his or her profile in the system, no matter where you are nationally,.
“We are going to do a constant analysis of every profile to ensure a proper match for requisitions.”
Blessing said that his organisation was also planning to engage cooperate organisations and government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies to solicit for openings and opportunities. (NAN)
