Osun PDP Crisis, Chairman writes Davido’s Dad
Dr. Adedeji Adeleke,
Adeleke University,
Ede,
Osun State.
Dear Sir,
RE-OSUN PDP CRISES
Above subject matter refers.
I appreciate your support and sympathy for our party, the financial support that you have given the party either directly through me or indirectly. My appreciation also goes for the huge moral and financial supports that you gave to your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke’s ambitions for senatorial and governorship elections. I was forced to write this letter because all efforts to sit down and have audience with you for over a year through phone calls, Whatsapp and SMS messages, through consultation with some people to reach you, including your sister, Yeyelua Dupe Adeleke Sani and your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke proved abortive and the events which unfolded recently that brought crises to PDP plus some insinuations going round compelled me to put this on paper for clarification purposes because I don’t want anything to go wrong between you and I, you have been of great help to me as a person, during the struggle, for me to emerge as the chairman of this party and I don’t want to have a wrong perception or bad feelings about you too, so the need for some clarifications.
I was surprised and thereby was highly compelled when I heard that you spoke with three leaders of the South West, one from Lagos, one from Oyo and one from Osun in respect of the money you expended on the party and on your brother’s ambition, most especially, that you mentioned certain amount of money you claimed to have given to me and those you claimed to have given to some leaders, the ones you claimed to have given the leaders do not concern me as that’s none of my business, nonetheless, I found out that what you told them, I mean the amount you claimed to have given me which was exceedingly outrageous, exaggerated and a far cry from what truly happened between us. I have been hearing this ugly story by proxy through the likes of Kazeem Akinleye, Ibukun Fadipe IBK , Kayode Oduoye, Ganiyu Olaoluwa Asejere , Fatai Deekola Elder Bayo Ajeigbe and Dele Adeleke but to mentioned few names as rumours until when this credible leaders confirmed it to me and that was why I am compelled to write you, to set the records straight.
Let me begin with the struggle to stabilize the party and establish the present executives, I want to put it on record that so many leaders, I mean majority of the 80% of the leaders of the party supported this struggle from the onset and they are still with me morally, fiscally, physically and spiritually. For the purpose of reference, I want to mention some names that donated money to the struggle just like you did, Her Excellency Erelu Olusola Obada CON; Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi; Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke; Prof. Wale Oladipo; Senator Felix Kolawole Ogunwale JUMOKOL; Oluomo Oludaisi Aina; Akogun Lere Oyewumi; Rt. Hon. Rafiu Adejare Bello; Barrister Kayode Oduoye; Oluomo Gbenga Owolabi; at a later date Prince Hon. Albert Abiodun Adeogun and myself.
(1) After about two to two and a half years of struggle you came into the party, you gave us support, tremendous support, I was aware through Honourable Prince Diran Odeyemi, Kazeem Akinleye that you expended some money, I know the amount but I don’t want to mention the amount here, I’m concerned about the ones that passed through me. During that struggle, you gave us N8.5m which passed through me via a bank transfer, I also want to mention here that during that period Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi donated N9m to the struggle but the money didn’t pass through me, it was passed through Hon. Abiodun Ojo Fafa to the then caretaker Secretary of the party, Mr. Demola Ojo, also a bosom friend of Abiodun Ojo Fafa because we were dissolved at that time and a caretaker regime was in place, planning to install a new executive. It is essential to mentioned that we held four (4) Congresses before this Present Executive come to stay.
(2) Also, during the march 25th 2018 congress, conducted by Prince Uche Secondus, we held a meeting with all the aspirants and we came up with a budget of about N34m, it was at that meeting that I was mandated by other aspirants to call your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke because he was the highest beneficiary of our struggle and the most senior political office holder that he should donate the chunk of the money, they said I should ask him for N25m, he sent Kazeem Akinleye to represent him at the meeting and look through the budget and promised to get back to me and he later got back to me that you have volunteered to contribute N15m which was transferred to my account while the other gubernatorial aspirants also contributed N3.5m totaling N18.5m, we ended up spending the sum of N42m because of so many unbudgeted expenses that came up, the balance of the expenditure was sourced by Honourable Wole Oke and largely and solely by me to prosecute the congress that brought us to office.
(3) During the Senatorial bye-election, about 24 hours to the close of nomination form, you spoke with me in the middle of the night and we started work on how we can get the mandate for your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, that was the first time you ever spoke with me and you said in case the representatives of the National Secretariat of PDP and everybody that we would need to bring back from the National headquarters (since all processes have been concluded) in respect of the screening and preparation for the primary, you sent the sum of ten million Naira, (N10m) to my account for logistics and incidental expenses. Out of the N10m, Yeyelua Dupe Adeleke Sani said that I should send N5m to her, she said she needed to spend some money directly for some people and take care of certain expenses from her end which I did through a transfer to her account that she sent to me.
(4) Let me add again the events of the pre-primaries of 2018 when you travelled to the United States and I told you on phone that I wanted to travel to the US you said I should see you in Atlanta and I came to Atlanta, we discussed politics and you gave me five thousand US dollars ($5,000).
(5) After the Senatorial bye-election which your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke won, when my Daughter was getting married, a week after you gave me N2m.
(6) During the Osun West Senatorial bye-election, you sent N30m to the party account to take care of the N10m cost of the nomination form for your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and the remaining N20m as refund of the cost of nomination forms by Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi and Col. Olayiwola Falabi who were the two leading contenders for the post before your brother came.
(7) Also on the day of the Senatorial primaries, you sent N5,000 per delegate which people rejected as too small and I had to add N5,000 each from my personal purse to make it N10,000 per delegate and it all amounted to about N2m which you refunded back to me later. In addition, when we wanted to begin the Senatorial campaign, we were delayed for about two days and I had to provide N4m from my personal purse with which we embarked on the campaign, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and Kazeem Akinleye handled all this expenditures for the first two days and we spent N3m out of the N4m which you also refunded to me later.
(8) Immediately after our inauguration, you took up the bulk expenses of the party and from that point, we had the Ward Congress for the 3 Ad-Hoc Delegates, meeting of leadership was called to Senator Dr. Olu Alabi’s house whereby we had a budget of N15.5m and we concluded that everybody should contribute, you sent N5m to us as your contribution, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi contributed N2m and the total contributions from other aspirants and other leaders was N1.5m and the balance was sourced by my good self.
(9) Also, immediately after the ward congress, we had the local government congress, another meeting was held in Sen Olu Alabi’s house , we had a budget of N10.5m, again through Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, you sent N5m to us, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi donated N1m, others contributed N1m while I also sourced for the balance of that money.
(10) We had the State congress for gubernatorial primaries, you were initially supposed to give us money but you declined because of the relationship with me, it was only one person, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi that contributed N10m for that project and we had a budget of N38m, I sourced for the balance.
(11) We held the South West MEGA rally, the South West Working Committee gave you a bill of N120m and you promised to give them N50m and we got to know about the arrangement that it was the state chapter of the party that was going to host the rally, we were able to convince you that even if you were going to give the South West that money, you should pay it through the State chapter out of which you initially deposited N35m to the Party Account and later balanced it with N15m totaling N50m that you contributed, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and Eight other aspirants contributed N1m each for the South West MEGA rally The balance was source personally by me . We eventually spent N78m on the rally as against the N120m budgeted.
(12) During the gubernatorial MEGA rally, you were the only person that gave us money, you gave the party N25m out of the budget of N38m, the Party had to make up for the balance of that money.
(13) We had ward congress for 3 Ad-Hoc delegates for national convention; you did not give us any money. The party financed it.
(14) We have local government congress for national delegate convention, you did not give us any money, and the Party financed it
(15) We had National Assembly primaries, you did not give us any money, the party financed it.
(16) We had State Assembly primaries; you did not give us any money. The party financed it.
(17) The gubernatorial election was funded solely by you and there were no contributions from any quarters, at least to my knowledge and you, our candidate, the Gubernatorial Campaign Council disbursed all the money both for the campaign and election directly to each of the local governments without passing through me or the party
(17) I’m also privy to a lot of money spent during the Senatorial and Gubernatorial Election directly by you or through people which were specifically allocated and distributed directly to the beneficiaries (this includes money given by Senate president)
(18) Before the gubernatorial election, we had a gubernatorial campaign committee through which you channeled all the money you spent, so I cannot account for that. May be the Director General of the Campaign Council will be in the best position to speak on that.
(19) Immediately after the gubernatorial election, we started the presidential, national and state Assemblies election campaigns, throughout the presidential election campaign, there was no campaign money that passed through the party, nobody gave us any money for the campaign throughout, we financed the campaign conducted by the Party ourselves, I approached you when we started our consultation that I was aware you and Yeyelua Dupe Adeleke Sani were doing consultation and she was also spending money, I approached you, I explained that we were also going round, doing consultations and spending personal money at the party secretariat and this money was being sourced solely by me, I told you that the party had no money and you promised to give us N5m which you sent to me.
(20) I want to suggest that may be something happened along the line or some money transpired through some people from you to me without my knowledge, which obviously may have gotten missing in transit, hence the huge and exaggerated sum being mentioned about that is running into hundreds of millions, is the more reason why a meeting is necessary between both of us for clarifications.
(21) I will also like to highlight some issues on the collation of pink copy of results during the court proceedings, immediately after the gubernatorial elections, there were insinuations that we did not collect the pink copy of the election result sheets from the party agents, whoever that came up with this story must be lying because all the results were handled by the trio of the State Administrative Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sikiru Mustapha Muhammed and my Personal Assistant, Mr. Abayomi Ojosegun with Alao Adeolu and same were received by Mr. Dele Adeleke himself, whenever he wasn’t around, one Mr. Abbey and one young lady called Peju received on his behalf and all submissions were done inside the mini hall behind the main house of Dr. Deji Adeleke at his Ede Country Home, witnessed severally by all those people who were working on the collation of the results. Abayomi Ojosegun also met Dr. B. T. Salam and many others in the hall severally on many occasions during the time they were submitting all the results sheets and they were recorded and signed.
(22) At a point, Yeyelua Dupe Adeleke Sani had to dash my PA, Abayomi Ojosegun the sum of N50,000, for doing a good job by getting all the results, safe for about just 20 units all within a week. We also have all the evidences of the submission of all those results incidented in the office and on a computer at country home. I remember one day when argument came up on this issue in your office at Adeleke University, Ede, my PA challenged Abbey who agreed with him but upon getting to the computer in their situation room, they claimed to have formatted their systems but copies were retrieved in our office system to prove that we actually submitted all the results to them. I was surprised and shocked that you have to send so much money to someone else again on the same results that the party had fully retrieved and handed over to Dele Adeleke, I need to also put this on record and clarify it as somebody must be playing games here.
(23) The second point I will like to emphasize here is about the accusation that Soji Adagunodo was involved in anti-party activities, I’m putting it to you that it was share blackmail by those who failed in their respective units to deliver for our party, I won all elections and to clarify this also, you need to give me the benefit of doubt to put the record straight because I did not engage in anti-party activities against PDP when I was an ordinary member of my party and I keep wondering why I will do that now that I’m at the helm of affairs of the party when the glory of the victory would have been mine.
(24) I put everything on the line, spending my personal resources for PDP to win including my life because I was shot at about four times by APC during the gubernatorial election of September 22nd, 2018, when it was practically difficult for all the leaders in Osogbo to stop the kidnapping of 7 presiding officers and supervisors in Wards 4 & 5 with more than 70,000 votes which somebody close to the Government then was the organizer, I was called and I had to leave my local government in Obokun, physically accosted the man and his team at the gate of the Government House Okefia and rescued those Presiding officers, their other 7 Poll Clerks and Supervisors and took them to the INEC collation Centre
I had to source for money for some leaders to go and perform their civic rights because people would be looking up to them, I had to spend my personal money to make them comfortable to go and win the election for our party because allowances were not made for some selected leaders, in all the local government from the Election money sent to each Local government. All these leaders were calling me, I had to personally source for money to give them for them to win the Gubernatorial Election.
(25) On the night of September 22nd, three times, attempts were made on my life at gun point, I’m happy that Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye and some other people who were together with me at INEC office witnessed it all because the news of how I left my local government in Obokun to Osogbo local government Ware 4 and Ward 5 where I rescued the seven presiding officers poll clerks and supervisors that were kidnapped, had reached them, all the attempts that was made to manipulate the governorship election in those two wards which are the biggest wards in Osun with 70,000 votes was thwarted. Each of the wards is even bigger than some local governments, they’re like adding about two to three local governments put together, if I have not rescued the Presiding Officers, Supervisors and poll clerks and took them to INEC Office in Osogbo the issue of going to court would have been long forgotten.
(26) I have never in my life done anti-party and I will never do anti-party, instead of that I will rather join the party of my choice and work for it, I put this one also on record just for record purpose and for you to understand who actually were the ones that engaged in anti-party activities between your informants who lost in their units, wards and local government and I and the people that are close to me in various local government won at all levels in all elections and still had the guts to stop direct rigging by the government of the day. There are more to say because a lot of people who were engaged in anti-party activities, those who held meetings with Aregbesola and Oyetola, some of whom I had to confront who confessed to me are today your best friends, the champions and in the forefront of the Adeleke dynasty. I wish we will have an opportunity to talk and we will be able to review all what happened with facts.
(27) I will also like to refresh your memory that sometimes, Hon. Wole Oke, Ibukun Fadipe IBK and Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye came to you, they discussed extensively before the primary with you and came to the conclusion that you should give money to the executives and some leaders and that you should give me N100m, Jeep and Hilux vehicles, fortunately, the following, Tuesday I had a South West meeting of PDP to attend in Lagos, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye called me, I told him I was in Lagos and he said you would call me, you did and invited me to your house in Lekki where you told me about their proposition as enumerated above and I told you that I was not going to do anything because of money, material things or positions in government, I said that all these things you were offering me, I did not send anybody to make such request on my behalf. If you remember I told you that by the time your brother might have become the candidate of the party or by the time we might have won the election, whatever I needed, I would request from you.
(28) The issue of the N100m and the Hilux and Jeeps leaked to Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and he also came to me with Engr. Dare Ojo and they said some people told them that you made the request and that I turned it down so they also offered to give me even more which I also turned down and repeated what I told you that I was not doing anything for money or material things and that I wouldn’t even serve at the state level in any capacity so that I could have my conscience clear that whatever happened in respect of the gubernatorial primaries will not be insinuated to be because of monetary inducement or promises of wanting to offer me any position.
(29) I also remember, sometimes after the Senatorial election, I was about to travel, Dele Adeleke and Kazeem Akinleye met me in my house where I was enveloping some money, to be given to Leaders and my executives, with a long list of names of the people that I wanted to give the money to. They asked me what I wanted to do with the money and I told them that I usually did that periodically in appreciation of their trouble during any party activities. I think they got back to you and you sent Akinleye to me that henceforth, I should not be using my personal money to run the party, you sent him to give me N5m cash
(30) With the explanations above, I want you to check your records if there are any transactions that are missing, maybe you can come up with it, some were transferred some were in cash and mostly those that were in cash were the ones we deliberated upon at our leader’s house, Senator Dr. Olu Alabi whenever we had any program and we always had a budget estimate and everybody was told to contribute.
(31) I feel sad that I have to say that probably you planned to give me more money in your mind or that you actually sent more than this amount enumerated above through people but they did not get to me because at the time you spoke with the three leaders that I mentioned in Lagos, Oyo and Osun States the money you told them that I collected from you was far above what I knew about and can best be described as over exaggerated, this is why I feel it is important for us to meet and iron it out.
(32) I appreciate you for being a great sympathizer of this great party, you have dedicated yourself, your resources, your time and everything humanly possible to the promotion of this party and you have also spent so much resources on getting the mandate of PDP and that of your brother, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke for us and we will be eternally grateful to you, without you, probably we wouldn’t have gone as far as we had. I sincerely appreciate you and I thank you for all you have done so far.
(33) I will be expecting your reaction within three days, if you do not respond or make any corrections, I will like to take it that my analysis is correct and a true reflection the transactions between us.
(34) Finally, I want you to know that I also have a good name, a goodwill, enviable integrity and lofty pedigree that I have built over the years, I’ve lived a life of good integrity and that’s why, even outside politics, I have to put this one straight for people to know, per adventure you have anything contrary to this, please let me know and I will appreciate it.
(35) I know you are a Christian and God fearing Man as I am
Thank you and God bless.
Accept the assurances of my highest esteem and regards.
Yours faithfully,
