Bauchi to privatise 20 ailing industries
The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Hajiya Maryam Bagel, announced this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Bagel said that the state executive approved the privatisation.
She explained that the selected industries were becoming liabilities to the government, especially that they were being runs by government employees.
The commissioner assured that members of the public would be carried along in spite of fears from some quarters that the industries would be sold to public officeholders.
She also said that due process would be followed during the exercise, adding that “Bureau for Public Enterprises has been setup’’ for that purpose. (NAN)
