2023 Presidency: Ohanaeze tackles Tinubu over outburst
The Igbo socio-cultural organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo has slammed Presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu over his recent outburst in Ogun State.
Addressing the All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates in Abeokuta on Thursday, Tinubu claimed to be behind the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the President in 2015.
He also revealed how he nominated Yemi Osinbajo for Vice President in 2015 and how he supported the emergence of Dapo Abiodun as the Governor of Ogun State.
The APC national leader said since he was responsible for the emergence of the three leaders, he should be compensated with the APC presidential ticket.
Reacting to statements, the spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonnia, said Tinubu’s outburst shows that he is not interested in southern unity and checkmating the northern emasculation.
Ogbonnia claimed that the presidential candidate was being used by the political class to create division between the South-East and the South-West.
He said: “At this point, he is supposed to begin to help to galvanise the South to create southern unity and checkmate the northern emasculation of both the South-West and South-East.”
He further urged the President to create an environment conducive for a south-easterner to emerge as APC’s presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Tinubu had retracted the claim that he was responsible for the emergence of President Buhari as the President.
Tinubu’s Campaign Director, Media & Communications, Bayo Onanuga on Friday described interpretations of the viral video as erroneous, misleading and mischievous.
He blamed opponents of Tinubu for attempting to twist what the former Governor said in Yoruba language to suit their purpose and interpretation.
