Makinde reshuffles Oyo cabinet

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has effected a minor reshuffle of his cabinet with two commissioners.

The reshuffling was announced at the Executive Council meeting at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, in Ibadan.

A statement to that effect made available to our newsroom on Tuesday, signed by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun confirmed that the Governor deployed Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while Hon. Bayo Lawal will be in charge of the Ministry of Trades, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives.

The meeting on Tuesday was attended by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Bayo Lawal, which is his first executive council meeting after he was sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Oyo State.

Also in attendance were the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi and others.

Meanwhile, Oyo State’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Governor Seyi Makinde does not deserve re-election for a second term in office come 2023.

APC in a statement on Monday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has failed woefully in the state, hence another chance to lead will breed serious insecurity in Oyo State.

The statement issued by the APC State Secretary in the state, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, said PDP was out to silence opposition and turn Oyo into a one-party state.

It accused the Makinde-led government of becoming too intolerant of opposition in the state because the PDP know that they have failed woefully, and they don’t have any good thing to offer the good people of the state.

Olanite accused Governor Makinde of using the instrumentalities of the state to empower thugs that have been fingered in the killing of some people in the state.
