APC wants to set Osun on fire by undermining Adeleke’s government – CUPP

  • urges Buhari to call his party men in Osun to order
  • congratulates Adeleke, backs reversal of Oyetola illegal appointments

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) of plot to set Osun state on fire and make it ungovernable in order to undermine Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government.

CUPP in a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere described as laughable the stories being linked to the PDP governor by the APC.

Making reference to the alleged attack on operatives of Amotekun Corps on duty at the inauguration of Adeleke in Osogbo, and alleged destruction of Tinubu’s campaign billboards by PDP supporters, CUPP said these actions are just mischievous confusions being created by the immediate past administration of Gboyega Oyetola to frustrate Adeleke’s government.

He also said those actions were vindictive measures put in place by Oyetola who is pained of losing the election.

CUPP therefore called on the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to immediately arrest the former governor before he sets the state on fire.

The opposition parties also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call his party members in Osun to order.

While congratulating Adeleke on his swearing in, CUPP backed the governor on the removal of monarchs, sack of 12,000 ghost workers and reversal of other appointments the former governor, Oyetola made.

CUPP said: “The growing crisis in osun caused by reckless actions taken by former governor and the House of Assembly and the unending instigation of crisis is aimed at undermining the people’s new government led by Adeleke. If not checked, it will throw Osun state into unending crisis and set the state on fire.

“The opposition is worried by the determination and well organised and deliberate act by former governor Oyetola to set the state on fire and undermine the mandate of the people given to adeleke.

“From illegal midnight appointments over 12000 ghost workers to enthronement of party chairmen and officials as OBA, and traditional heads, to backdated contracts and emptying of the treasury plus the use of the House of Assembly to interrupt running of the activities of the state government including obstructions to enforcement of orders of court.

“Opposition is asking the IGP and President Buhari to call this men to order and also order their immediate arrest and prosecution for acts likely to cause breach of public peace.”
