Atiku promises to reduce poverty by 40%, prioritises transparency

Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has stated l that he would reduce multi-dimensional poverty by 40 per cent in his first four years and put food on the tables of all Nigerians if he is elected president on February 25, 2023.

Atiku also vowed to prioritise transparency and accountability across all levels of government as well as reduce the cost of government through improved citizen oversight and a strong emphasis on curbing waste.

He made the promise at a strategic meeting with PDP National Assembly candidates also attended by his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State and all executive and legislative candidates of the PDP in Abuja on Sunday.

In joint resolution read by the Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda, the party’s Senatorial Candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the PDP candidates resolved to commit to advance the well-being of Nigerians and the development of our great country in The resolution read, “We commit to improving transparency and accountability across the whole government.

“We commit to the reduction of the cost of government through improved citizen oversight and a strong emphasis on curbing waste as a cost reduction mechanism.

“We commit to reducing multi-dimensional poverty by 40% over the next four years and putting food on the tables of all Nigerians

“We commit to reducing our unsustainable national debts

“We commit to greater investment in education and infrastructure by incrementally improving the budget allocation starting from the next budget cycle.

“We commit to the quick passage of bills that devolves more powers to the subnational governments.

“We also commit to securing Nigeria through robust conflict resolution mechanisms and improved welfare and funding of security agencies.
