FG arraigns Sheikh Gumi’s aide Mamu for terrorism financing

The Federal Government has concluded plans to arraign Tukur Mamu, a terrorist negotiator and a media aide to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism financing among others.

According to a charge signed by M.B. Abubakar, Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Mamu will be arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court, in Abuja

He is being prosecuted by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).

Justice Nkeonye Maha had, on Sept. 13, 2022, granted an order to the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain Mamu for 60 days.

His detention, the court said, will enable DSS to conclude its investigation on Mamu, who led the negotiation with the terrorists for the release of the Abuja-Kaduna train passengers kidnapped in March 2022.

He was, however, released by the secret service

It will be recalled that the DSS arrested Mamu in September 2022, after a series of negotiations he carried out for the release of some of the victims of the Kaduna train abduction.

He was arrested by Interpol in Cairo, Egypt, on 6 September, while the DSS raided his Kaduna residence and office.

The Secret Service claimed it recovered military uniforms and an amount of money during the raid.
