Bigi powers Nigerian Idol Season 8 with ten contestants in the live show
As the Season 8 of the Nigerian Idol Live Show competition gets lighted up, 10 contestants have tenaciously electrified the three judges with their outstanding performances into securing upper spots in the Live Show edition of the ongoing Bigi powered Nigerian Idol Season 8, slated to commence Sunday, May 28, 2023.
And as the discovery of the new idol gets closer, Rite Foods Limited, the maker of Bigi soft drinks has vouched to enliven contestants throughout the competition with its award-winning Bigi brand with 13 unique variants poised towards connecting with its consumers in every moment during the competition.
The final solo of the theatre week kicked off with a brilliant performance by Henry Savy who ended up being the first contestant to secure a place in the top 10 category of the show. His ‘Para’ performance of Davido literally pierced the heart of Simi, D’banj, and Obi Asika, which became the sensation of the moment.
17-year old Constance stole the show as she melted hearts with ‘Positions’ by Ariana Grande while Precious Mac thrilled and filled the theatre with singer Simi’s ‘Ayo’. Although, before her time-out, fear sets in as her fate has to be decided by ‘not-easy to-be-impressed’ Simi, who was sitting as a Judge and song owner.
After brilliant performances and praiseworthy stage control of ‘No Shaking’ by 2baba, ‘Catch me if you can’ by Adekunle Gold, ‘About damn time’ by Lizzo, ‘Under the Influence’ by Chris Brown, ‘Karma’ by Summer Walker, and ‘Flowers’ by Miley Cyrus – Victory, Daniel Ose, Goodness, Abraham, Reigny and Quest who sang one after the other, bounced into next phase with grand style. The last man standing – Chizo, narrowly escaped this time around, unlike last season when he was sent off at crucial moment.
Meanwhile, 19 contenders – Arite, Sapphire Whinnas, Amaka, Akinwande, Mura’s twin brother (Mina), Eloehi, Daniel, Sir Danny, Soultunes, Busayo, and nine others were tactfully eliminated from the moving train as it could only accommodate the 10 best acts this time around.
Speaking on the sponsorship, the Assistant Brand Manager, Bigi, Ms. Aransiola Biola, said the support is to help discover and nurture talent across the country and the African continent, and a demonstration of its mantra that it is for every moment, connecting consumers through worthy platforms. “We are excited to sponsor Nigerian Idol for three consecutive years, the Seasons 6 and 7, due to our love for promoting the entertainment industry and to support the next generation of musical talents,” she stated.
Aransiola added: “Of course, this show is a great opportunity for contestants to showcase what they have as they unlock new opportunities in the music industry.”
The contestants will go head-on for the live show starting next Sunday, which would be aired on DStv Channel 197 and GOtv Channel 11 (Magic Showcase).
