Bigi raises the bar, rewards consumers as Constance bows out of Nigerian Idol Season 8

The award-winning Bigi carbonated soft drink brand of Rite Foods Limited has again infused rewards into this year’s Nigerian Idol show to further appreciate consumers’ loyalty as they enjoy the electrifying performances of their favourite contestants and also vote for them to avoid being evicted.

This time, to enter the Bigi Idol 3.0 competition and get a chance to win, consumers are meant to simply take a video of themselves singing for 30 seconds and tag the Bigi drink on Instagram. The most creative and engaging entries will be carefully chosen by credible and experienced judges and winners will be announced respectively in three categories.

The winner of the Bigi Idol competition will receive a cash prize of N250, 000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira), while the first runner-up will be awarded N150, 000, and the second runner-up receives N100, 000. The deadline for competition entries is June 30, 2023.

As part of activities to excite contestants and consumers at the Nigerian Idol Season 8 live shows, Bigi has upgraded its holding bay area to an interactive future-forward ambience and experience center with an iconic mic as well as a photo booth that looks like a Bigi Chiller, creatively designed.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning the involvement of the previous winner, Progress Chukwuyem, in engaging with the contestants. He conducted a memory test to assess their knowledge about the artist who performed the song they would be showcasing that evening.

It was, however, a special weekend of music contests, as each of the contestants performed songs that depicted the most inspiring soundtrack of their lives and music journey.

The duo of Ose Daniel and Victory Gbakara were the memory-lane connectors as they performed to entice the judges and audience who accorded them lots of applause.

Ose Daniel’s rendition of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s Afrobeat most celebrated song, Zombie, erupted with excitement and sing-along moments from the judge and fans who graced the live show.

After his acts, one of the judges hailed him saying “You delivered a total package and Fela will be proud of you wherever he is.’

Also, Victory’s rendition of Lucky Dube’s, Prisoner was highly commended by the judges, with all saying his performance was an incredible one on the night.

However, the thrilling performances by the contestants did not extend to Constance, who was evicted from the journey to the Idol crown.

The show’s exhilarating climax came with the announcement of Precious Mac, who made the top 7 contestants that will advance to the next stage of the live show. She wrapped up the evening with the hit South African song ‘Kupkoti’ by Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Her dexterity carried her through the night into the live show to be aired next week.

The Nigerian Idol, acclaimed for birthing young music megastars, will continue with more stunning performances from the seven contenders in the next episode which would continue to be aired on DSTV Channel 154 and GOTV Channel 11 (Magic Showcase).
