FG applauds role of Advertising in driving economic growth

The Federal Government has acknowledged the pivotal role of advertising in shaping public perception, driving economic growth and fostering creativity and innovation.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, gave the acknowledgement in his keynote address Friday at the 50th anniversary conference of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) in Abuja.

Idris, who, was represented by the Director Public Communications and National Orientation, Sanni Baba, described the milestone event as a testament to the remarkable journey of AAAN and its invaluable contributions to the advertising industry in Nigeria.

The minister said AAAN had in the past five decades consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, professionalism and ethical standards in the field of advertising, noting that the dedication had propelled the industry and inspired countless individuals and organizations to strive for greatness.

“As the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, I recognize the critical importance of effective communication and the role that advertising agencies play in disseminating information, promoting national unity and driving positive social change. I commend your unwavering commitment to promoting ethical advertising practices and contributing to the growth and development of our nation,” Idris said.

He solicited the cooperation of the AAAN to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration and support government’s commitment to the value reorientation of citizens, stressing that government remains forthright in its determination to set the nation on a path of growth.

In his welcome address, the President AAAN, Steve Babaeko, said the advertising industry has confronted the dual challenges of macroeconomic headwinds and technological disruption, which have impacted its and clients’ bottom lines.

He said that by standing united as members of the same family, they can navigate these challenges and emerge stronger.
