SOSO Alumni builds multipurpose science laboratory for Ogbomoso School of Science

 

The Alumni of the School of Science in Ogbomoso (SOSO) has organised the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a state-of-the-art multipurpose science laboratory for Ogbomoso School of Science.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday, 20 Sept. 20, was graced by distinguished guests, including members of the alumni and the esteemed Aale of Okelerin, Oba Samuel Amao.

Mr Tomi Ogundare, President of the Association, said that the new multipurpose science laboratory holds immense benefits and importance for the students of the school of science.

Ogundare said that the state-of-the-art science laboratory will provide students with a hands-on and immersive learning environment. Equipped with modern equipment, technologies, and resources, the laboratory will enable students to conduct experiments, foster critical thinking, and deepen their understanding of scientific concepts. This experiential learning approach will enhance the overall quality of education and make science more engaging and accessible.

He added that the multipurpose science laboratory will serve as a hub for research and innovation as students will have the opportunity to explore and contribute to cutting-edge scientific discoveries. By fostering a culture of creativity and curiosity, the laboratory will empower students to develop independent research projects, furthering their academic growth and potential.

According to him, the new laboratory will also play a vital role in preparing students for future careers in science-related fields by providing them with practical training, building skills and knowledge. The laboratory will equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in their chosen Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, (STEM) professions. This facility will serve as a springboard for further academic pursuits and contribute to the development of a skilled workforce in various scientific disciplines.

“The construction of the multipurpose science laboratory at the School of Science in Ogbomoso, our alma mater, signifies a new chapter in the institution’s commitment to excellence in education. The laboratory will empower students, foster scientific innovation, and prepare them for successful careers in science and technology.

“Since its establishment, the School of Science in Ogbomoso has continuously strived to provide a quality education and create opportunities for its students. The groundbreaking ceremony signifies further progress towards enhancing the educational experience of future generations,” Ogundare said.

Acknowledging the exemplary gesture of the Alumni, the Vice-principal of the school, Mr. T. A. Adisa appreciated the Alumni for the good gesture.

Adisa said,” We are grateful to the Alumni of this school who thought it prudent to initiate this wonderful project. It will immensely benefit the school and improve academic performance significantly.

“We are grateful for the participation of members of the alumni and the significant presence of Aale of Okelerin, Oba Samuel Amao, for the groundbreaking ceremony. Their unwavering support and commitment to education have been instrumental in making this project a reality.”

The Aale of Okelerin, Samuel Amao  lauded the Alumni for the project, saying that it was not the first time they were invited him to commission a commendable project as such.

Amao urged them to keep up the great exemplary practice.

Dr Afolabi, the Chairman of the School’s Governing Board, said it was heartwarming that the Alumni are giving back in an impactful ways, saying that it would be a meaningful project to mark the 30th anniversary of the school by 2024.

Hon. Kunle Adeyi, the Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association, commended the project and promised to mobilise parents to support it.

The Zonal Director, Ministry of Education, Ogbomoso North, Mrs O.A. Olabode, said the ministry was delighted to hear that Alumni would be constructing laboratory for the school. She commended the Alumni for the vision to the inspire students and give back to the school.

In attendance were Rev. P.O. Oyedokun,Inspector General of Education, Ogbomoso,  Mr M.M.Magbagbeola and Mr. E. O. Sanda, teachers and staff of SOSO, Mrs. Fabeku, Mr. Kehinde, the Trustee of the Alumni Association, Sheikh Aleem, seven officials from the Ministry of Education, and other important dignitaries.
