Oyo declares 3-day mourning for Akeredolu
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared three days of state mourning for the deceased Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The governor also ordered all flags at public offices in the state to be flown at half-mast for three days.
Makinde gave this directive on Thursday, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Earlier, the Governor, in a condolence message issued by Sulaimon Olanrewaju, his Special Adviser on Media, described Akeredolu’s death as a painful loss to Yorubaland and Nigeria in general.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the late Governor’s Wife, Betty, the entire family, as well as the government and people of Ondo state.
Makinde described Akeredolu’s fervent and unrelenting stance on issues bordering on the South-west’s regional integration and progress as a lesson for leaders.
According to him, Akeredolu worked hard with his colleague-Governors for the peace, prosperity and progress of the South-west states.
