NCDMB, Triple Helix to host research and innovation conference in Abuja

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is set to partner with Triple Helix Nigeria (THN) to host the inaugural SciBiz Annual Conference 2024, aimed at fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government to drive innovation.

Scheduled for October 23rd to 25th in Abuja, the conference is themed “Integrating Research Innovation and Policy: Triple Helix Pathway to a Digital Nigeria.”

The event will bring together key stakeholders to explore ways to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical applications.

The Triple Helix model, which has been successful in driving innovation ecosystems in advanced economies, is central to the discussions.

Organizers note that this model has not been fully harnessed in Nigeria due to limited interaction among academia, industry, and government.

Key elements of the conference include plenary sessions, panel discussions, and an innovation pitching competition, in collaboration with OxFounders, where startups will present their projects to potential investors.

The event will also feature workshops, exhibitions, and a dedicated diaspora engagement subcommittee to leverage global expertise for local challenges.

Attendees will include academics, industry leaders, government officials, investors, and entrepreneurs, to turn research into marketable products, generate employment, and stimulating economic growth in Nigeria.
