Inner Wheel club of LUTH reiterates commitment to humanitarian services 

The Inner Wheel club of LUTH District 911 has reiterated its commitment to humanitarian services by ensuring that the vulnerable and indigent citizens received the needed support/healthcare for healthy living.

The Immediate Past President of the club, Mrs Tolani Martins, made this known during the Fund Raising and Induction Ceremony of Prof. Omolola Orenuga as the 7th President of Inner Whelel club of LUTH on Wednesday in Lagos.

The programme featured a donation of sewing machine to a 19-year-old out-of-school youth to assist her with  the means of livelihood.

Martins, who expressed excitement that the club had impacted positively on the lives of many people, urged the new president to build on the existing legacies, which majorly focused on humanitarian services.

She emphasised that the club’s core mandate was basically to help the vulnerable and less privileged citizens in the society.

“Service to humanity has been the core mandate of the club particularly during my tenure.

“So, am leaving a lasting legacy; a legacy that will help because in humanity we stand.

“The club achieves its objective by organising medical outreach for communities and the less privileged, paying medical bills for the indigents and rendering financial assistance to the vulnerable, mostly women and children.

“Our goal is to ensure that the vulnerable are not left behind but are cared for,” Martins said.

Speaking, Her Royal Majesty, Erelu Dr Anu Esuola, DDS of Ojoku Kingdom, congratulated the new president of the club, pledging her support for the club.

Esuola urged her to do more of humanitarian services; helping the vulnerable citizens, out-of-school children and less privileged as she extends the gesture to the communities and beyond.

She also admonished her to continue upholding the highest standards of integrity, dedication and commitment to service.

Esuola also received an Award of Recognition to  for her immense contribution to the capacity building of humans and communities in Nigeria and beyond.

Speaking, the new President of the club, Orenuga, expressed excitement over her new position and appreciated members of the club, friends and family for their support.

In her acceptance speech, Orenuga pledged the readiness of her office and Executives to take the club to the next level and impact positively on people’s lives particularly the less privileged.

According to her, the club  is going to build on the existing legacies on ground by carrying out medical outreach, paying school fees for out-of-school children, paying medical bills for indigent citizens and lots more.

“I feel good; I feel a sense of obligation, a sense responsibility because when you are serving and you’re doing things for humanity; it gives you a lot of grace and fulfilment that you are giving back to the community.

“Today for instance, we were able to empower a 19-year-old out-of-school youth with a sewing machine.

“In addition, we helped a single-mother pay the medical bills of her child and if we continue to do things like this, it will go a long way to help and touch the lives of most people in the society,” she said.
