Yuletide: Support, pray for your leaders, Tinubu urges Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and unity this Christmas, urging citizens to support and pray for the nation’s leaders.
In his 2024 Christmas message, released on Tuesday, he described the season as a time to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ, which emphasize hope and the triumph of light over darkness.
He highlighted the significance of the holiday as a “fulfillment of divine prophecy” and a universal reminder of resilience and unity.
The President expressed deep sorrow over recent tragedies in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, which claimed several lives.
“Our thoughts are with those who continue to suffer from these heartbreaking incidents,” Tinubu said, emphasizing the need for collective prayers to prevent such calamities in the future.
Addressing the challenges faced by many Nigerians this year, including the impact of natural disasters and accidents, Tinubu extended his sympathies to the affected families.
He urged citizens to extend kindness to one another, regardless of financial status, and to remember the less fortunate during this festive period.
Tinubu also paid tribute to the nation’s armed forces, recognizing their sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria. “They deserve our prayers and steadfast support,” he stated.
The President emphasized the importance of unity and support for national leaders, stating, “With your backing, we can serve our country diligently and strive for prosperity.”
He assured citizens of ongoing efforts to restore and advance the nation’s development.
For those traveling during the holiday season, Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring safe and convenient journeys, highlighting initiatives such as free train services and subsidized road transport across 144 routes nationwide.
The President expressed optimism about the future, noting, “Nigeria is on a promising path of restoration and progress, with every indication pointing toward a bright future. Let us renew our hope and belief in a prosperous Nigeria.”
