Insecurity: FG begins deployment of guards to 1,129 forests, as Tinubu approves recruitments
President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of forest guards in the nation’s over 1129 forests in order to secure ungoverned spaces in the country.
The President has also directed office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Environment to drive the program by recruiting and deploying thousands of Nigerian youths to be trained and armed for the purpose.
President was reportedly directed that the recruitments of the guards who will be well trained and armed to perform their duties, commence nationwide immediately.
Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, writing on his X handle, said the aims is essentially to flush out terrorists and criminal gangs hiding inside the forests for criminal activities.
President Bola Tinubu had at a recent event in Katsina state, vowed to ensure that all ungoverned spaces are protected by the federal government across the country.
According to Dare” This recruitment is a security collaborative effort between the federal and state governments.
“The office of the NSA and the Ministry of Environment have been directed to take charge and ensure full implementation.
Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to be employed as personnel of the outfit.
Following renewed attacks on communities, the President had warned terrorists that his administration would not surrender an inch of the country’s territory to terrorists, bandits, and other criminal gangs operating inside the forests.
President Tinubu vowed that the country would take back its forests.
