ANSEC holds first historic meeting at the new Anambra Government House — Law Mefor

The new edifice of the Government House, built by Governor Charles Soludo, is now being occupied by the state government, with the first historic meeting of the 8th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held there on May 19, 2025.

This significant milestone breaks the 34-year jinx of the state’s lack of a permanent government house since it was created in 1991.

According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, during the meeting, ANSEC relived the successful visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending the people of the state for their warm hospitality, which left a lasting impression on the President and his entourage.

At the meeting, the Council reviewed the Kaolin factory’s status report and determined it was ready for commercial production. It was also decided by the Council members that the privatisation of the factory would commence after the completion of the proof of concept to ensure profitable operation.

Mefor pointed out that ANSEC has set in motion processes for the launch of the Anambra Country Club at Awka, a vital component of the recently commissioned Solution Fun City, where the people of Anambra can relax, enjoy, and play.

The Commissioner averred that after the deliberations made by ANSEC, the members were optimistic that the decisions reached at the executive session would promote welfare, unity, security, and prosperity for the people of Anambra, Nigerians, and humanity.

Recently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned the newly built Government House and Lodge, the building of the Deputy Governor, the Governor’s Office, 24 other structures, a world-class amphitheatre, and an auditorium in Awka.

The President also commissioned the eight-lane Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard leading to the Government House, and the Solution Fun City, in the state’s capital.
