President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme meant to modernise farming and make it more appealing to young Nigerians.
Speaking at the launch, said his government is delivering on its promise to turn Nigeria into a global agricultural powerhouse.
“We have over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 farming tools ready.
“This will make farming easier, create jobs, and make it ‘sexier’ for our youths,” he announced.
He added that his administration is working with countries like Belarus to train young people in modern farming, machine repair and equipment building, helping them gain useful skills and financial independence.
The president also urged beneficiaries to make good use of the machines, saying “We will supervise and hold you accountable”
.He praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for taking strong steps to address food shortages and keep the system stable.
“Let history record today as the start of Nigeria’s farming rebirth,” he added.
