As CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria Limited opened its assembly plant and a showroom in Lagos, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has expressed excitement by the location of the assembly plant in Lagos.
He emphasised that the establishment of the plant and showroom in the state offered a ray of hope for Lagos State and indeed Nigeria that it would create more job opportunities.
According to him, CFAO Yamaha Nigeria Limited assembly plant also brought the number of similar plants so far inaugurated in the state to 10 since the commencement of the new Federal Government’s automobile policy in 2015.
He stressed the leadership status of the state as the most attractive location financially and socially for investment in Africa, reiterating the commitment of his administration towards putting in place policies that would attract investment and facilitate conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
He said that Lagos with the population of over 21 million people, comprising the middle-class with strong purchasing powers, remains the best place for business in Nigeria and called on other international business conglomerates yet to establish businesses in Lagos to consider doing so.
The Chairman, CFAO France and the President, Yamaha Motors Company Limited, Messrs. Richard Bielle and Hiroyuki Yanagi, while speaking separately at the event, said that the joint venture was strategic as it would boost their capacity to deepen their operations in Africa.
They expressed their belief in Lagos as the business hub of Africa and pledged commitment in using their business expertise to better the lot of Nigerians. They used the occasion to thank the State government for its support.
They both expressed the belief that the union between CFAO and Yamaha would strengthen the transport sector as well as boost employment opportunity in the country, describing Lagos and Nigeria as their main focus because of the country’s rapid economic growth and existing ample business opportunities.
Yanagi said that the Yamaha, which marked out of Nigeria 10 years ago, was back in Lagos with new and quality products that would meet the needs of the people.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode, said apart from the inauguration of the CFAO Yamaha assembly plant, CFAO Group as a whole has a lot to offer the state and the country in general.
He revealed that the group was working seriously with relevant authorities and in partnership with other international brands for the establishment of retail business in Lagos and other parts of the country.
He also commended Governor Ambode for personally attending the event, not only that but that he even arrived on time, saying the development was a proof of the governor’s commitment to encouraging investment in the state.
