It seems time to laugh has come back on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) as investors have continued aggressively to recoup losses they had made for quite some time as they collectively made a gain of N324 billion on Thursday. They also made N242 billion on Wednesday even as they recoded massive gain on Tuesday.
From the closing value of N10.347 trillion on Wednesday, the Market Capitalisation closed at 10.671 trillion on Thursday even as the All-Share Index which closed on 30,127.82 basis points at the end of Wednesday trading rose to 31,071.25. The market witnessed a total of 450.524 million shares valued at N5.707 billion in 6,360 deals.
The top-five gainers for the day was led by NESTLE with per share gain of N23 and from its opening value of N832, it closed at N855; TOTAL followed with N15 per share gain and from its opening value of N180, it closed at N195 per share. DANGCEM added N9.71to its opening value of N194.25 to close at N203.96 while NB added N5.69 to its opening value N143.8 to close at N149.49. GUINNESS completed the top-five gainers as it added N5.31to its opening value of N106.45 to close at 111.76
The top-five losers for the day was led by CAP with a loss of N1.44 to close at N34.68 from its opening value of N36.12; INTBREW was marked down by N0.13 and from the opening value of N19.99, it closed the day trading at N19.86; NPFMCRFBK closed at N1.17 from N1.23 as it was marked down by N0.06; ACCESS at N6.16 from N6.2 it came to the market as it lost N0.04; SKYEBANK recorded a loss of N0.03 and from its opening value of N1.13, it closed at N1.1 per share.
The highest traded share of the day was ZENITHBANK with 96.774 million shares valued at 1.720 billion, it was followed by TRANSCORP which traded 64.429 million shares at N124.030 million; UBA followed with 61.040 million shares valued at N310.502 million; ACCESS traded 34.799 million shares at N217.588 million. FBNH 30.718 million shares valued at N132.387 million.
