Bear tightens grips on the market as investors lose N77bn

From N9.692 trillion on Wednesday, Market Capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at N9.615 trillion on Thursday as investors recorded value devaluation of N77 billion even as the market All-Share Index which closed at 28,221.18 basis points  on Wednesday came down to 27,997.29 basis points.

Investors traded a total of 227.135 million shares valued at N1.802 billion exchanged in 3,426 deals.

The most appreciated stock in the day trading  was NB which opened the day trading at N135.1 per share and closed at N137 as it added N1.9; CAP opened the day trading at N35 and closed at N36 as it rose by N1.00; TIGERBRANDS added N0.08 to its opening value of N3.85 to close at N3.93; SKYEBANK rose from N0.78 to close at N0.85 as it added N0.07 to its existing value. WEMABANK rose from N0.73 to close at N0.78 as it added N0.05 to its opening value.

On the other side, NESTLE led the losers’ chart for the day as it dropped from N850 to N835 per share as it was marked down by N15 per share; CADBURY dropped by N0.89 and from its opening value of N16.09, it closed at N15.2. GUINNESS, from its opening value of N96.79              , it closed at N95.95 as it was marked down by N0.84 per share. STANBIC, from the value of N14.2, closed at N13.49 having recorded a loss of N0.71 while GUARANTY dropped from N21.7 to close at N21 as it lost N0.7 per share.

The most traded stock of the day was SKYEBANK which accounted for 54.001 million shares valued at N45.887 million; UBA came second with 41.331 million shares at N182. 023 million; ZENITHBANK accounted for 21.657 million shares at the attached value of N332.553 million; FBNH traded 15.062 million shares valued at N51.953 million while TRANSCORP traded 13.843 million shares with the attached value of N18.302 million.
