Obasanjo gives panacea to the nation’s economic recession
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday advises on what to be done to tackle current economic recession in the country.
He gave the advice while speaking in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the opening of the 8th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment, currently holding in the state capital.
According to him, the only way out of the recession was to increase the volume of trade internally and externally and the establishment of a commodity exchange to ensure stability in the prices of agricultural produce.
“There is a need to spend less on goods that the nation could do away with, earn more from the manufacturing sector and borrow to finance critical sectors of the economy”, he said.
He stressed that the idea of constituency projects by members of the National Assembly should stop forthwith.
Also speaking at the event, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said that the current recession would soon be a thing of the past.
