Dangote, others lead discourse on finance, economic dominance

The President of Africa’s multilateral trade finance institution, Afreximbank, Dr. Benedict Okey Oramah, will play host to the likes of Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (MITI), Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, President/CEO, Dangote Industries, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and founder/CEO, Center for Values in Leadership, Prof. Patrick Utomi, among many other top dignitaries from public and private sectors, as he officially launches his book in Lagos.

The book titled: ‘Foundations of Structured Trade Finance’, scheduled to be launched on Wednesday 9th November, 2016, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Oramah, who consistently determined to see revival of the dwindling nation’s economy, disclosed in a document made available Business247 News Online that keynote address will be delivered by Enelamah, while Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adebiyi Daramola will be among panel of discussants.

Dango; Utomi; Former Governor Cross River State, Mr. Donald Duke, and Managing Director, Nigerian Export Import Bank (NEXIM), Mr. Bashir Wali, will also feature as panelists, with the topic: “Finance, Trade and Economic Dominance – The Knowledge of Power and the Power of Knowledge.”

However, the launch of this most awaited industry book means that Oramah has finally given the international trade fraternity the ultimate book they have long been waiting for.

Drawing on his vast experience in international trade, he has produced a book which will serve as a reference document for any professional engaged in structured trade finance.

According to Executive Director, Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) and former Governor, Bank of Zambia, Caleb M. Fundanga, I highly recommend the book.

“Oramah generously shares the learning from his many years of hands-on experience. The methods developed by  Oramah and his colleagues have enabled the African Export Import Bank to develop a successful and growing franchise in financing commodities and commoditised trade revenue flows where many others have failed”, he noted.

He added, “This book is required reading for everyone interested in building viable trade financing schemes, even in challenging environments.’”

Similarly, Manager, Policies, Markets and ICTs at the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), Amsterdam, Lamon Rutten, said, “For years, when young lawyers would first join our trade finance team, they would ask if there was any concise but comprehensive book that they could read to act as an introduction to the area.”

“My response was always that there was not. Now there is!” Andrew Gamble, consultant at Hogan Lovells, London, expressed delight.

The book, Foundations of Structured Trade Finance was published by ARK Group London in association with Trade & Forfaiting Review (TFR).
