Bears tighten grip on market as investors on NSE lose N51bn
The bearish run with which the market opened on Monday continued on Tuesday as the Nigerian Stock Exchange All-Share Index (NSE ASI) and the Market Capitalization decreased by 0.58 per cent, while the year-to-date return stood at -5.20 per cent as invstors recorded a loss of N51 billion.
The All Share-Index closed at 25,478.06 against the previous close of 25,626.37 while Market Capitalization closed at ₦8.816 trillion against previous close of ₦8.867 trillion.
Volume traded increased by 109.91 per cent from 191.835 million to 402.675 million, while the total value of stock traded increased by 229.16 per cent from ₦0.585 billion to ₦1.925 billion in 3,459 deals.
The Financial Services sector led the activity chart with 355.44 million shares exchanged for ₦0.657 billion. Conglomerates came next with 17.813 million shares traded for ₦0.024 billion, Consumer Goods, Services, Oil And Gas sectors followed in that order on the activity chart.
Fidelitybk, FCMB, FBNH, Transcorp and UBA were the most active stocks by volume. Fidelitybk, Intbrew, Npfmcrfbk, AIICO and UAC-PROP emerged the highest price gainers on the chart, while Mobil, Oando, NASCON, UCAP and Livestock topped the losers chart.
