House of Reps begin investigation into suspension of SEC DG

House of Representatives on Tuesday opened an investigation into the Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun’s suspension of the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, saying they would look into whether the ministry had interfered with the SEC’s work..

He was said to have been suspended over alleged financial abuses.

Lawmakers plan to investigate the suspension and report their findings to parliament within two weeks.

While this is on, lawmakers want both parties to “maintain the status quo” pending the outcome of the probe.
