Saraki raises alarm: IGP planning to implicate me in murder case

The Senate President,  Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to implicate him with the arrest of six suspected cultists paraded in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The Kwara State Police Command had last week paraded the son of a former Police image maker in Kwara State among six suspected.

The state Police Commissioner, Aminu Pai Saleh, while parading the suspects, said the son of the former Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police Command, Lanre Mohammed Soliu, was arrested for alleged murder and membership of Aiye Confraternity cult group.

The suspect, aka Askari, of 13, Ile Nda Compound, Emir’s Palace Ilorin, was said to have been arrested on Tuesday after a manhunt for him over alleged killing of Yemi Bayero of Ago market, Ilorin.

The allegation by Saraki is coming amid another alarm raised by the Kwara State Government that the police had moved the suspected cultists to Abuja.

The concern of the state government is that there was no point moving the suspects to Abuja when they can be tried with state laws.
