Osun 2018: Don’t swear before any aspirant, Akinbade warns party delegates
Ahead of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party’s primary slated for July 14, this year, one of the leading governorship aspirants on the platform of the party, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, has warned delegates of the dire consequences of swearing on oath before any aspirant.
Besides, Akinbade admonished that if any aspirant demands for oath-taking as a means of assuring himself of delegates’ allegiance to him, the delegates so invited, should equally insist on the aspirant’s participation in the oath-taking process with them.
He said the would-be candidate of the party should not only be somebody that would emerge from a flawless godly process, but should be someone freely chosen by the party members, especially the delegates of their own volition based on his antecedents.
The former Secretary to the State Government’s warning is coming on the heels of reports that some aspirants angling for the coveted governorship seat in the state have started making delegates to swear on oath as a means of securing their allegiance during the forthcoming party’s primaries,
The oath-swearing art is a means whereby party delegates are not only enticed with money, but are made to undergo some rituals such as sleeping in casket and/or, the use of other ‘juju’, known to be diabolical and capable of hypnotising the oath takers to do their bidding.
However, amidst reports of resurgence of such practice, especially as the party’s primaries is inching by, Akinbade warned delegates not to, in any guise, destroy their future through such ungodly acts.
“The art of swearing to an oath by whatever means; either sleeping in casket or the use of other “juju” all because of money, could be killing on the long run. Those who did it in the past are either dead now or living in miseries. Examples abound”
He accused politicians behind such unholy acts as people who are not sure of their supposed political clout, stressing “They are like the proverbial prostitutes who pride themselves as virgins”
The erstwhile SSG promised that he would not make any delegate to swear to any oath, assuring further that ” Under whatever pretence, I won’t do it and won’t tell anybody to do it on my behalf. I will emerge not only as the PDP candidate but as the governor of state come September this year after the polls through God and the valued support of the people”
Akinbade who said that he was not intimidated by the antics of any aspirant, insisted that the outpouring show of love by the party members and electorate, was enough to see him through at the coming primaries in July and the election slated for September this year.
He then charged them to be more resolute and determined in their bid to see him enthroned as the next governor of the state after Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
