…advises contenders not to see it as a do-or-die affair
Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, a leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the people of the state to intensify their prayers on the forthcoming governorship election slated for September, this year.
Besides, Akinbade charged the people to be watchful and mindful of things capable of depriving the state of having a hitch-free exercise during the election
He particularly implored Muslims and Christians to continue to pray for an enduring peace in the state before, during and after the election., adding, “We must as well pray for the emergence of a governor that will serve the state and its people diligently”
Accordingly, the former Secretary to the State Government maintained that the call had become imperative in view of the mounting tension in the state occasioned by the coming election.
In a statement by the Akinbade Media Office(AMO), the people of the state should avoid things capable of leading to bloodletting before, during and after the polls
While admonishing other aspirants angling for the coveted seat of governor not to turn the state to a battleground, Akinbade further advised them not to make their ambitions a do-or-die affairs.
“It is God that enthrones and it is our people he will use as instruments to actualise that. By whatever means, nobody should try to use force to have his/her way,;the end-result of this usually lead to loss of lives Andes property” he warned
Akinbade is currently on holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj and is due back next week to resume his tour of the remaining local governments he has not touched especially as regard the party primary scheduled for Tuesday, July 17.
