Osun 2018: We will resist imposition of unpopular candidate, PDP students’ wing warns

Osun State Students’ Wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to resist the imposition of non credible and unpopular candidate by the party for the forthcoming governorship election slated for September, this year.

In their statement  at the weekend, the state students coordinator warned that such decision mighty mar the party’s chances which  could lead to defeat of it at the polls, advising that the choice of the party in governorship  flag bearer, should be in tandem with the expectations of the electorate.

In a joint statement by the wing’s State Coordinator, Comrade Tunde Ajiboye and the Secretary, Comrade Tony Ugwu, the students noted that the voters’ were now wiser.

“There is a better and greater chance for the party,  PDP to reclaim its lost glory in the state than now. However, this can only come to pass if the party presents a credible candidate that can stand the test of time anytime, any day ,at the polls”

While appealing to the Adesoji Adagunodo led executive to put its ears to the ground with a view to choosing a winnable candidate for the party, the students admonished the party leaders to eschew primordial sentiments in picking who flies the flag of the party at this year’s September election.

“That’s the only magic number and permutation that can win the coming election for our party. Anything outside credibility and the ability to hit the ground running, God forbid,it will be back to square one. This is however avoidable now if we do the needful”, they further warmed.

According to Ajiboye and Ugwu, “with the misrule of the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration since being in the saddle for about eight years, the election was half won for PDP, maintaining that”It is only a wrong choice that can undo us at the polls”

“Truly, though the people are tired of the APC in this state, we must not however take them for granted by giving them just anybody who they won’t vote for at the end of the day. Though all those who have signified are qualified, who people want is what matter. We are closer to the people; we have done our research. So anything short of a credible and acceptable candidate will backfire and this we shall resist vehemently “they maintained
