Dangote Foundation to empower 34,000 indigent women in Katsina —-Official

Dangote Foundation plans to empower No fewer than 34,000 indegent women in Katsina State as part of effort to improve their socio-economic status.

The Managing Director of the Foundation, Zouera Youssoufou, disclosed this on Monday when she paid a courtesy visit on Gov. Aminu Masari in Katsina.

The Managing Director explained that 1,000 women would be selected from each of the 34 local government areas of the state for the programme.

She said that each woman identified would be given N10,000 to set up a small business of their choice.

According to her, the gesture would go a long way in improving the economic status of the beneficiaries and make them self-reliant.

She said that the the Foundation had recently supported some selected needy women in Jigawa, Kano, Lagos and Borno states.

In his remarks, Gov. Aminu Masari thanked the Foundation for the initiating the programme.

He said that the state government would assist the Foundation in identifying the targeted beneficiaries in the state.

Masari said that the government would also ensure that only the targeted persons across the 34 local government areas benefit from the gesture.
