APC frustrated because we exposed its plan on Atiku’s appeal – CUPP
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for saying Nigeria lacked opposition and was drifting towards a one-party state.
In a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, CUPP said the ruling party was frustrated because the group leaked its plan to alter seniority in the Supreme Court justices that would preside over the appeal between Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari.
The coalition said it was not surprised about the APC’s outburst against opposition parties, saying it would not be deterred from exposing the federal government’s plans.
The statement read: “The attack by the APC is part of the party’s failed evil agenda to turn Nigeria to a one-party state and to get a third term for President Muhamadu Buhari.
“We want the APC to know that this unwarranted attack will not deter us from continuing to expose all the evil plans of this government.
“We advise the party to forget this evil agenda because they will not materialise in Nigeria. Nigerians will not allow enemies of the country to build a Museveni or Paul Biya country here. They should stop their daydreaming.
“We also ask the party, since it claimed it has no opposition, to settle down and fix Nigeria. This is the least Nigerians expect from them. Or are they blaming their supposed lack of opposition as the cause of their woeful performance?”
It would be recalled that the ruling APC accused PDP of failing to perform its duties as an opposition party.
Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC’s national publicity secretary, said Nigeria was turning to a one-party state because the PDP had failed to play a vibrant role which was needed to deepen the country’s democracy.
Issa-Onilu said the PDP had become ineffective just as he added that the ruling APC recognised and welcomed intelligent critique of its policies.
