 Coronavirus: LASU postpones convocation indefinitely

The 24th convocation ceremony of the Lagos State University (LASU) has been postponed indefinitely over the growing coronavirus issue in the country..

The decision was said to have been taken during an emergency management meeting on Thursday, March 19.

Prior to the decision, the management of the university had announced rosters of activities to mark the 24th convocation ceremony where 8,959 graduands will be conferred with honours in diplomas and various degrees programmes.

LASU similarly announced that prominent Nigerians including Ọba Otudeko, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Segun Agbaje will be honoured with honorary degrees at the event scheduled to hold between 20 and 27th of March.

“The truth is that if we had decided to continue with our programmes, who would have loved to take the risk to attend among both the graduands and the dignitaries?

“Thank God we have not recorded any case with a link to the university as at now, so the best thing to avoid it is to observe all the cautionary measures,” one of the top members of the university management was quoted to have said.
