BREAKING: Buhari relaxes lockdown of Lagos, FCT, Ogun

• Orders immediate total lockdown of Kano for two weeks

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered phased and gradual relaxation of the lockdown order on FCT, Lagos and Ogun states to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The President, in a broadcast on Monday evening, said the decision was informed by socio-economic impacts of the lockdown on Nigerians.

He however said the relaxation of the lockdown will take effect from Monday, May 4.

In the same breath,  the President ordered total lockdown of Kano State for two weeks to enable the Federal Government contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

“With regards to Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately.

“The Federal Government shall deploy all the necessary human, material and technical resources to support the State in controlling and containing the pandemic and preventing the risk of further spread to neighbouring States.”
