Russia allocates $449m to support unemployed people amid COVID-19 pandemic

Prime Minister Mikhail Mushustin on Monday said that the Russian government would allocate 35 billion rubles ($449.4 million) additionally to support unemployed people amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“The government will continue to support people who have lost their jobs, including the less privileged because of the spread of coronavirus.

“They were given the maximum unemployment benefit, they also received payments for underage children.’’

Mishustin told deputy prime ministers that the country envisioned over 165 billion rubles for these social benefits in its budget.

According to him, the government would allocate over 35 billion rubles more to support unemployed people in all the regions [across Russia]. Adding that a relevant governmental decree has been signed. (Sputnik/NAN)
