Pastor Adeboye tweets, says RCCG won’t comply with FG’s Twitter ban

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has reacted to the ban on Twitter operations in the country by the Federal Government, stressing that it would be difficult for the ministry to comply with the directive.

It would be recalled that that the Federal Government on Friday suspended the operations of the microblogging platform in the country.

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who made the announcement had said the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence was the reason for the suspension.

Adeboye in a tweet on his Twitter handle on Monday said tweeting is in accordance with Article 19 of the UN universal declaration of human rights.

According to him, the Redeemed Christian Church of God will not comply with a directive banning Twitter in Nigeria.

“The Redeemed Christian Church of God is domiciled in more than 170 Nations & Territories.

“The tweets here are in accordance to Article 19 of the UN universal declaration of Human Rights,” he wrote.
