Yabatech deploys Aptus Pi to enhance Mobile Learning in Computer Village

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) on Thursday presented a device named Aptus Pi to aid training of apprentices learning Mobilie Phone Repairs, Computer Hardware repairs and maintenance in Computer Village, Ikeja.

Mr Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar of the YABATECH, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the initiative is part of efforts by the College to enhance technology.
Ejiofor disclosed that the Aptus Pi was donated by Commonwealth of Learning under Skills in Demand Project that involved the College and Computer and Telecommunications Engineering Association of Nigeria (COMTEAN).
“The Mobile Learning Aid will enable learners to access learning materials online without the need of internet and having to pay for data subscription, the device can accommodate up to 40 learners within 40km radius of its location.
“The idea behind this great project is actually aimed at upgrading and formalising informal apprenticeships in Lagos State and other other parts of the nation,” Ejiofor added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dotun Abdul, Director, Flexible Skills Development Centre of YABATECH, who made the presentation, said that the Staff of the College have worked to produce quality Courseware.
Abdul added that the Courseware is in line with National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the training of apprentices in the two skill areas.
“These resources will give apprentices the required theoretical knowledge to compliment their practical training in the workplace, thereby making them competent.
“Successful learners will be awarded the National Skills Qualification Certificate after assessment by National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB),” he added.
On the sideline, Mr Adebisi Adedapo, President of COMTEAN, expressed appreciation to the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and the Yabatech Team for their support and quality apprenticeship in the ICT industry.
Adedapo affirmed the readiness of his members to ensure quality service delivery and proper cascading of skills to their prospective customers and trainees.
