Tinubu absent as Atiku, Peter Obi grace 62nd NBA conference

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was absent at the 62nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) which was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The theme of this year’s NBA AGM tagged “BOLD Transitions” and its General Conference is expected to hold between August 19 and 26, with the opening ceremony happening on Monday.

Dignitaries at the events include the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima amongst others imminent Nigerians.

According to Daily Independent, the former Governor of Borno State, Shettima was at the event to represent its principal, Tinubu, APC presidential standard bearer.

The arrivals of the politicians shook the auditorium as their supporters hailed them with rapturous applause and hailings as the development has gotten social media talking.

A video of how the former Anambra State Governor was cheered by the crowd at the conference is currently trending on social media.

However, Atiku, while delivering his speech said, “I am a product of developed powers and I know what the regional governments did with those powers. That’s why I’m advocating for restructuring.”

Also present at the event are Governors Solomon Lalong and Godwin Obaseki of Plateau and Edo states respectively.

The Lagos State Attorney General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, is representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state, while the Chief Judge of the state, Kazeem Alogba, is also present.

The Keynote Speaker at the event was the award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
