APC reacts as Dogara, other aggrieved northern members adopt Atiku for 2023
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has wished its aggrieved members that adopted former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2023 election all the best.
It was on Friday reported that former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and other Northern Christian leaders in his camp who rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC revealed they will support Atiku for the 2023 presidential election.
The leaders under the aegis of the Northern Leaders Consultative Forum assured of their support for the Wazirin Adamawa. Their revelation was made public at a media conference in Abuja yesterday.
The adoption follows the presentation of a report by its technical criteria committee, presented by former Kogi State Deputy Governor Simon Achuba.
Reacting to the development, the spokesman of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign team, Festus Keyamo, said Dogara and his allies were not with the APC when the party won in 2019.
According to him, nothing has changed as the party chieftains only returned to their former camp. Keyamo stressed that Dogara was only backing his former party.
“My very good and amiable friend and classmate Yakubu Dogara should have spared us all the drama. From PDP and back to PDP.
“Nothing has changed; no alteration of political permutations. They were not with us in 2019 when we won. Wishing them all the best, except victory in 2023”, Keyamu said.
